Residents Attend Town Board Meeting

Several residents attended the June 8 Town Board meeting to express concern about potential development of the Reynolds property at 831 Route 35. During the meeting, Preserve Lewisboro delivered a statement asking the Town Board to take a fresh look at whether half-acre zoning remains appropriate along the south side of Route 35 in this congested and environmentally sensitive part of Cross River.

The Board suggested that residents may also wish to contact the Lewisboro Conservation Advisory Council. To our knowledge, the Planning Board has still not received a formal application for the property. The Planning Board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, June 16, but the Reynolds property is not currently on the agenda.

At this stage, the most important step is for residents to write to the Town Board and ask it to examine whether the current half-acre zoning in this area still makes sense before any subdivision proposal moves forward. Residents should also ask the Town Board to put a temporary moratorium on building in the half-acre zone in question while that review is completed.
